Hi there, I am Lisa Teo
I am a former lawyer based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, who left my legal career behind to delve into the vibrant world of art, finally embracing my true passion and childhood dream. Today, I am a full-time artist, certified art therapist and art teacher. Nature has always been my constant source of inspiration. As an avid hiker, diver, and traveler, I immerse myself in the raw beauty of the natural world, unearthing profound insights about life. My creative process is enhanced by my meditation and yoga practice, which allows me to delve into the subconscious mind for inspiration. I believe that this harmonious integration of mindfulness and artistic expression infuses my work with a sense of authenticity and emotional depth. I have participated in several group art exhibitions in Kuala Lumpur since 2014. In 2021 and 2023, I held solo exhibitions with Gallery 1819 in Singapore, showcasing my paddy field series in 2021 and my coral series in 2023. This year, I participated in two group art exhibitions in the US. In May 2024, I exhibited 4 paintings from my coral series at the Greenville Center for Creative Arfts (GCCA) in South Carolina. In August, I exhibited one of my paddy field paintings at the South Art Dealer gallery in New York.
I am a firm believer in the power of art to heal. As such, I obtained a certification in Guided Drawing as an art therapist from the Institute for Sensorimotor Art Therapy in Australia. I offer sessions whereby my clients make specific patterns and shapes on paper with their eyes closed using both hands in a rhythmic manner. This method allows my clients to bypass their logical rational mind to reach a deeper subconscious level for inner transformation and self-healing. In 2024, I became a certified HRD Corp trainer to conduct stress management and mental health programs for corporate employees. Todate, I have conducted Guided Drawing sessions for over 200 clients. My corporate clients include Coca Cola and AXA.
When I am not painting or helping others to improve their mental and emotional well-being, I enjoy spending time with my two teenage children and my dog Chewie, travelling, hiking, reading, energy healing, yoga, going to the gym, scuba diving and exploring the meaning of Life.
